Sharing the Integrative and Personal Experience of therapy for enhanced self-awareness.

How is the therapeutic process?

folas
The process involves different stages. Before we start your therapy process, we will have an initial interview. This interview is an assessment that will allow us to get to know one another and understand whether we will start this process together. In the interview process, we will explore what you are looking for in therapy (your goal), your concerns, history, and current circumstances. Then, we will agree on a date and time for you to start your therapy sessions. In each session we may explore different topics and use different techniques. These will help you to understand your experiences, thoughts, and feelings. In the process, you may notice patterns in your behaviour. Gradually, you will increase your self-awareness and integrate your mind, body and emotions.

How will we work?

folas

The decision to start therapy generally takes time to make. It is normal to try taking care of our struggles by ourselves. Looking for help  is often not easy. Also, sharing our worries with others can be especially challenging. However, sharing in a therapeutic space is not the same as sharing about ourselves with a friend.

‘Therapy is too good to be limited to the sick’ – Ervin Polster

Therapy is a process where we will work collaboratively, and where you will be heard, seen and acknowledged for who you are and how you feel. It is a safe and non-judgmental space.

In this process, you will be able to explore and experiment different parts of yourself. You may reflect on current or past experiences, which will help you understand your thoughts, emotions and behaviours. We will aim for you to be comfortable and understanding with your spontaneous and unique self.

Why IPE?

folas

IPE Therapy was born with a goal of sharing the Integrative and Personal Experience of therapy with those looking to increase their self-awareness.

Also, Ipê is a beautiful and strong tree that is native to Brazil. This is a tree that can be found in Central, and other parts of South America. Being Brazilian myself, this tree is a symbol of my roots and background.

Ipê blooms once a year and its flowers grow where the leaves once existed. So, it has to lose all its leaves in order to blossom. This process can be similar to therapy, as we may need to let go of parts of ourselves in order to be able to discover new ones.

Additionally, trees, as all living things, show signs of distress. However, the signs of an unhealthy tree may not always be clearly visible, especially if you do not know how to spot them. This also is not different from the human experience. We may, at times, dismiss symptoms that indicate we need mental health support.

In therapy, we will explore these symptoms and work together to build you new skills and strategies to manage your mental health.
